PARALLEL TEACHING: The primary purpose is to lower the student-teacher ratio. The teachers plan the instruction jointly, but each delivers content to half the class. This format requires teachers to coordinate their efforts so that the students receive essentially the same instruction. This format is often appropriate for projects needing close teacher supervision and for test review.
Variation: Each teacher may present the same content but a different complexity levels or using different approaches.
Caution: as with station teaching, noise and activity levels may need to be monitored. Successfully coordinating two instructional groups requires close attention to time.
